There are many events that can influence a writer like Pablo Neruda. Historical and social realities such as the injustices and massacre of the native people who are really the rightful owners of the land will continue to be covered up by the mainstream press and only resurface from time to time whenever people like Pablo Neruda and true journalists mention the issue. And to think that all this took place in order for large companies to sell cheap bananas in the American market. The greed and depravity of the psychopaths who run the governments of the western powers and giant corporations know no bounds to this day.
